The following conversation between journalist Ella Whelan and the author and broadcaster Timandra Harkness is a taster for Timandra’s lecture, ‘The Personalised Century’, at The Academy – our residential summer school which takes place on 20-21st July.
The theme of The Academy this year is ‘CULTURE WARS: THEN AND NOW’ and over the course of a weekend, lecturers will explore the emergence and evolution of the culture wars – including what are they, where they’ve come from, why does culture become politicised and how to deal with the contemporary problem of warring identities.
The Academy brings together people of all ages and backgrounds. If you’d like to join us on the 20th and 21st July for a weekend of stimulating debate in a beautiful location, book your tickets here: ideasmatter.org.uk/the-academy-2019
